An end of year wrap from āhei.
We received an epic email from Southland founder Laura Thompson who has wrapped up a massive year of growth for āhei —her platform helping kaiako and coaches plan inclusive physical education and sport sessions.
The numbers speak for themselves. In just four months, more than 600 schools (31% of all NZ primary schools) have signed up and run 13,000+ activities through the platform, with strong engagement despite a challenging year for the education sector.
āhei is also gaining traction with clubs across Aotearoa, with Athletics New Zealand leading an impressive national rollout.
With new support tools, expanded resources, and deeper connections between schools, clubs, and communities coming in 2026, āhei is well on its way to reshaping how movement, sport, and PE are delivered across the motu.
A huge year and an exciting one to watch in 2026.
